We have 15 minute appointments as standard, 30 minutes for new patients. If your pet is nervous they are welcome to wait outside until their appointment, and you are welcome to pop in whenever you are passing so they can just come in for a treat and a fuss. We also have ‘cat pods’ behind reception, so that cats can wait without being able to see any dogs in the waiting room.
Appointments with a vet or a nurse are available Monday to Saturday throughout the day and may be made by phone, in person, or online. Please let the receptionist know when booking if you have a preference as to which vet you see; for ongoing conditions, it is best to see the same vet and gives them a chance to really get to know you and your pet. Routine operations can be booked Monday-Friday; we will always try to accommodate your pet on a day convenient to you, but we limit the number each day to ensure each pet gets our full attention and we can handle emergencies.
Our dedicated operating theatre has undergone total refurbishment to ensure an optimum environment for performing surgery on our pet patients. We perform surgeries ranging from routine neutering and lump removals through to orthopaedic surgery such as fracture repairs, cruciate surgery and total hip replacements.
Our refurbished x-ray room and ‘floating table’ means we can easily x-ray anything from a kitten to a Great Dane. We also have a modern ultrasound machine, used for diagnosing medical and heart problems. At Torquay we also have equipment for performing keyhole surgery, and endoscopy.
No human dentist would dream of performing dentistry without the option of dental x-ray, and we feel the same goes for our pet patients. We can perform teeth cleaning and extractions of diseased teeth, and also endeavour to keep your pet’s mouth healthy with dental hygiene advice. We have dedicated equipment for rabbits and rodents, to address their particular dental problems.
We have facilities to hospitalise pets, with dogs and cats kept separate and an additional room for rabbits and exotic pets.
We have a range of laboratory equipment, so we are able to offer most tests ‘in-house’. We still utilise the services of specialist pathologists at an external site for some tests – working with these great vets enables us to provide a comprehensive diagnostic laboratory service.
We are able to offer a complete veterinary service at our Torquay surgery, with no need to travel outside of Torbay except in the rare cases of Specialist referral for your pet e.g. for a brain scan.
